Karie Newman, PT, DPT, CIDN Director of Body Elite Physical Therapy

In 2001, Karie received her Master’s in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University. In 2003 she opened Body Elite Physical Therapy in order to begin the realization of her dream to offer quality orthopedic care to the people of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Karie then completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Shenandoah University in 2004. Karie is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic section. She is also certified in integrative dry needling, CPR and is a credentialed clinical instructor. Karie most enjoys treating spine disorders, prenatal and postpartum issues, TMJ dysfunction, and foot and ankle problems. She also enjoys treating young athletes, especially gymnasts and dancers.

Karie and her husband are kept busy with their two daughters and boxer mix.

Kara M. Prato, PT, DPT, CIDN Licensed Physical Therapist

In 2004, Kara received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She worked in a physical therapy clinic as an aide and exercise specialist, which then encouraged her to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. She attended Shenandoah University and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009.

Kara is a dedicated, evidence-based practitioner and continues to supplement her education through research, professional webinars, and continuing education courses including:

Kara is also a clinical instructor and mentor to current physical therapy students, as well as students interested in physical therapy as a professional career.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Orthopedic Section of the APTA. She has certification under Virginia’s direct access law to evaluate and treat non-Medicare patients without a referral from their physician. She is also certified in Integrative Dry Needling and CPR as well as having a Senior Fitness Instruction Certification.

Kara and her husband, Thomas, enjoy living in the Winchester area with their two daughters, Tenley and Harper. They enjoy exploring the beautiful outdoors and attending the many family-fun activities that this area has to offer. They also enjoy spending time visiting with family and friends, near and far.

Christine Ehlers, PT, MPT Licensed Physical Therapist

Chris Ehlers did her undergraduate work at Skidmore College, graduating in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology. Chris spent the following three years competing and training three-day event horses. During that period, she did volunteer work at a center for therapeutic horseback riding in Northern Virginia. This experience led her to physical therapy as a career. Chris graduated from Shenandoah University in 1995 with a master’s degree in Physical Therapy. She has spent the last 17 years working in outpatient orthopedics treating all types of injuries including joint replacements, sports and work injuries, as well as chronic pain.

She has completed continuing education in the following areas:

LSVT BIG certification for patients with Parkinson’s disease

Kinesiology taping and manual therapy

SASTM method of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization

Strength ball training

McKenzie mechanical diagnosis and therapy for the lumbar spine

Chris has continued competing horses professionally and has added physical therapy continuing education courses on treating the equine as well as human athlete. In May of 2015, she began coursework to complete a PG Diploma/MSc degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy from the University of Liverpool. Her goal is to provide customized PT services to the horse and rider athletes as a team. Chris’s other interests include hiking and skiing.

Megan M. McIntyre, PT, DPT Licensed Physical Therapist

Megan McIntyre graduated from Shenandoah University in 2012 with a Bachelors in Kinesiology and minor in dance. Megan continued her education at Shenandoah and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2015.

Megan began her career in NOVA, where she treated the adult orthopedic population and worked to develop a pediatric program at the clinic. Megan joined Body Elite Physical Therapy in June 2018. Megan believes in providing evidence-based practice and continues to expand her knowledge through continuing education and presentations.

Megan’s clinic interests are always to work toward helping everyone achieve their functional goals and get them back to living their life to their fullest potential.

Megan is also the owner of Milestone Pediatric Therapy, where she treats area children who have gross motor delays, coordination delays and pediatric specific orthopedic conditions. Milestone operates out of the front room of Body Elite (you will see all the toys through the window!). Megan belongs to the American Physical Therapy Association and the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy.

In addition to working in the clinic, Megan teaches for Shenandoah University. She teaches in the Cadaver Lab for Gross Anatomy for the PT and PA programs. She also teaches Neuroscience and Medical Physiology for the PA program.

Megan lives in Winchester with her husband and young son. They have a cat and dog — Jackson and Juniper. Megan enjoys working out, cooking, and gardening in her spare time.

Andrea M. Glantz, PT, DPT Licensed Physical Therapist

In 2014, Andrea received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a minor in Biology from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. While attending Grove City College, Andrea worked as an athletic training assistant for the Grove City Wolverine football team. In 2014, she became a certified strength and conditioning specialist. 

Andrea attended Shenandoah University and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2017. Andrea also took extra courses during her experience at SU to earn a master’s certificate in Performing Arts Medicine.

After PT school, Andrea moved back to her hometown around Pittsburgh, PA, where she began her career as a home health physical therapist. Andrea and her husband, James, missed the Frederick County area and moved back to Virginia in early 2019. Andrea joined Body Elite Physical Therapy in May of 2019.

Andrea’s certifications and specialties include performing arts medicine including dancers, gymnasts, musicians, and actor/actresses and LSVT BIG for patients with Parkinson’s disease, and strengthening and conditioning. She is also CPR certified.

Andrea and her husband keep busy taking care of their young daughter, their German Shepherd mix dog, and enjoy spending free time with family and friends in Virginia and Pittsburgh, PA. Andrea’s interests include dance, camping, keeping up with Pittsburgh sports teams, and attending performing arts events and sporting events.

Marissa Boutin, PT, DPT, Licensed Physical Therapist

In 2020, Marissa received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology from Shenandoah University. She continued on at Shenandoah University to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2023.

Marissa enjoys treating patients of all ages and believes that the best treatment is patient-centered. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is certified in BLS/CPR. Marissa looks forward to pursuing certifications in dry needling and becoming a credentialed clinical instructor.

Marissa and her fiancé, Zach, enjoy exploring the great outdoors and hope to one day travel to all 63 National Parks. Marissa loves visiting with family and friends and is always up to go on an adventure.

Kimberly Ahlemann, Certified Personal Trainer

Kimberly has a degree in Social Work with a minor in gerontology and psychology, she also holds a Senior Fitness Instruction Certification. For over 25 years she has worked with individuals with a variety of diagnoses and disabilities, both mental and physical. She has always enjoyed helping people become the best version of themselves by helping them to maintain or improve the quality of their life through health, fitness, and behavior management/modification.

Kimberly believes that a person centered approach is the best way to help individuals achieve their goals. She brings this training with her to Body Elite Physical Therapy and Wellness Center. Kimberly has been able to help people overcome obstacles by going the extra mile and creating a fitness plan as unique as the person she is treating.

Happily married with two children, Kimberly has always had some type of large dog from a Doberman to a Rottweiler, and now a Pitt Bull. In her spare time she loves spending quality time with friends and family and reading about health, fitness, wellness and nutrition.
